NFC AFC Championship Power Rankings
NFL Championship Weekend is finally here, and both the NFC Championship game and the AFC Championship game look as though they will be great games. There are only four teams left to rank in my NFL power rankings, but that's the way I've been dong it since the playoffs started. The NFL playoffs power rankings list contains only the remaining times who can still go all the way. With that said, let's take a look at the power rankings with the Championship game teams.
NFL Power Rankings - NFC Championship & AFC Championship
- Pittsburgh Steelers - The Steelers jump all the way to the top of my power rankings because they seem like the most complete team. The only reason I had them ranked so low before was because of the question of Roethlisberger's health. Well, that's certainly been answered. The Steelers get to host the AFC Championship game as well and have more offensive threats than the Ravens. Several weeks before the playoffs started I marveled a the intensity that playoff games between the Titans, Ravens and Steelers would create. We get to see the final act this weekend.
- Baltimore Ravens - The Ravens though are a very strong team with a dominating defense. I think too much has been made over the referees not calling the delay of game penalty. The Ravens won that game because of the turnovers they created and because Tennessee couldn't hold it together. But can they go into Pittsburgh and topple the division rival Steelers who beat them twice during the regular season? Either way it will be a close, hard fought game.
- Philadelphia Eagles - The Eagles played a great game on the road against the Giants, although it seemed like the Giants shot themselves in the foot more than anything else. The other person doing the shooting though was Donovan McNabb, who despite the conditions and numbers that don't tell the whole story, had a great game, completing more than a few huge, clutch 3rd down conversions. The defense has been swarming and they have the feel of the Giants team last year, who snuck into the playoffs then defeated the top teams on the road en route to the Super Bowl.
- Arizona Cardinals - It's not that the Cardinals are a bad team. It's just that I still don't think they are as good as any of the other three remaining NFL playoff teams. This past weekend they showed what they are made of, lighting up the scoreboard and also shutting down a team by creating turnover after turnover. However, the Panthers just didn't show up at all for this one, probably overlooking their foe. They have another chance in the NFC Championship game, at home, to prove me wrong yet again.
There are the NFL playoff power rankings for the championship game weekend. In the AFC Championship game we might not see more than 20 points on the scoreboard. In the NFC Championship game there is potential for a bit of a shoot out, especially if the Cardinals take an early lead. Enjoy the NFL power rankings and get ready, because after this weekend, there's just one more left!
