A wise man once said, even the best free NFL picks provider in the world will have a week where he doesn't go 5-1 and 6-1. Last week I was 3-3 with my expert NFL picks, although I did provide some great insight such as the Falcons and the Panthers both winning big games on the road. So let's turn up the heat and get serious for the week 14 NFL picks.

Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints - Saints favored by 3

In the uber-competitive NFC South, the story reads that the home team always wins. The home teams have been absolutely dominant in this division, especially against each other. So why do I think this game would be any different? Because I'm crazy, and if I just picked favorites in my free NFL picks, why would anybody want to read them? I think the Falcons have established themselves as a team that can win on the road, and the Saints are about to be pushed out of the playoffs picture once and for all. Falcons on the road in an upset!

Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Steelers favored by 3

Ladies and gentlemen, grab your popcorn, you are about to witness the rebirth of the Dallas Cowboys! These guys were one of the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl before this season. Then they became struck with injuries and lost their path. But I think they've quietly regained their momentum and are ready to take it to an overconfident Steelers team. The Steelers are 1-2 against NFC East opponents this year, and it's about to be 1-3. Cowboys on the road, in another upset special here in my week 14 NFL picks.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers - Panthers favored by 3

Earlier I mentioned a little something called the "NFC South teams win at home, especially against each other" rule. Then I picked against it. Here's another NFC South match-up, and this team I will support the theory and pick the Panthers to win the game. The Buccaneers have been winning while looking ugly, and that can only continue for so long. The Panthers were the same way a few weeks ago, and their loss set some fire underneath them to get them playing explosively well since. Maybe this game will do the same for the Bucs. Panthers win the game at home as the Bucs won't be able to score enough to keep pace, pick them straight up and to beat the spread.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills (Game in Toronto) - Bills favored by 1

The Bills promise to have a huge home crowd playing in Toronto, after all the team has thought about moving there on more than one occasion! But my, how the Bills have disappointed after their hot start. They have completely disintegrated as their season has fallen apart. Will the huge game atmosphere in Toronto help or hurt? I don't think it matters, as the Dolphins are currently the superior team. They are making a run at the playoffs, and while I don't think they get there, they need this game to keep that hope alive. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams run all day (with Ricky returning to Toronto after his CFL days with the Argonauts) and the Dolphins win on the road in yet another upset pick here in my expert week 14 NFL picks.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Chicago Bears - Bears favored by 4

The Jaguars are another huge disappointment this season, they were expected by many to have a breakout season and were the dark horse Super Bowl pick out of the AFC. But they are still a tough team and are actually better on the road than they are at home. With the Vikings playing Detroit in Week 14 however, the Bears know they need this win if they want to maintain hopes of winning their division, as they Wild Card is already out of reach. Bears reach down and pull out the game at home, I'll take them to beat the spread in the process, although the Jaguars against the spread isn't a bad move.

Washington Redskins @ Baltimore Ravens - Ravens favored by 6

One more for you all here in my free week 14 NFL picks, and it's the Beltway Battle, the I-495, please don't have the score be 9-5, NFL match-up. It's make or break time for the Washington Redskins, another loss and the season will officially be toast. The Ravens though are still fighting their own playoff lives as well, and a loss here would be a major set back. Right now the Ravens are playing great defense, they are running the ball and Joe Flacco is letting everybody know, Delaware in the house! I want to pick the Redskins, but just can't do it... not the way they have been playing, and not wi th a battered Clinton Portis. Portis guts out some tough gains, but the Ravens win handily, beating the spread by more than a few points.
