Week 13 NFL Power Rankings
After this past weekend, we all know there are going to be some changes in my Week 13 NFL Power Rankings. There are no more undefeated teams left in their way, which clears the path for the return to the number one spot in the power rankings for the defending champion New York Giants. But how far will the Titans fall? Where do those AFC East teams stack up? Let's get right to it and take a look at the NFL Power Rankings for week 13 of the 2008 season!
Week 13 NFL Power Rankings
- New York Giants- 10-1 - Well, this one should be a no brainer. The defending champions have won six in a row, including games against strong, playoff bound opponents. And they have steamrolled some of them. Honestly, I have felt that the G-Men were the best team for the last several weeks, but I couldn't downgrade the Titans without losing. No Plaxico and no Jacobs for a game? No problem.
- New York Jets - 8-3 - New York, New York, what a wonderful town! I predicted the Jets to beat the Titans, so no surprise there, but you still have to give the team credit. How they are sitting at 8-3, I don't know. But there seems to be some magic behind this team, and while I wouldn't call them the favorites to escape the AFC, you have to give them a chance in any game they play, especially when the running game is hitting on all cylinders.
- Pittsburgh Steelers- 8-3 - The Steelers just keep on winning games, struggling and surviving. Ben Roethlisberger is saying that he's getting healthy again. Whether or not that's true - or it stays that way - is clearly left to be determined. The next few weeks will cast more light on the Steelers. They will either be battle tested and confident heading into the playoffs, or bruised and limping, heading to an early exit.
- Tennessee Titans- 10-1 - Now it's time to see how the Titans rebound after that inevitable first loss. We saw that the Giants only loss this season really gave them a boost and that they've been a better team since. Will the same hold true for the Titans? Easy game in Detroit, and the Titans need to lay a brutal beat down, as if they were running up the score in the BCS to get back into their groove.
- Indianapolis Colts - 7-4 - Never count out a team led by Peyton Manning. Is a close, last second victory over the struggling San Diego Chargers a great skin to hang on the wall? Not for most teams, but when a team has had your number like the Chargers have had the Colts', than it's a very good win on the road.
- Baltimore Ravens- 7-4 - I knew the Eagles game had the potential to get ugly, with the Ravens embarrassed with their previous week's showing against the Giants. But I didn't think it would get as ugly as it did. I don't care if it's Joe Flacco or Joe Shmoe (sorry, that was lame) throwing the ball, I do not want to face this team in the playoffs.
- New England Patriots- 7-4 - Matt Cassel for MVP? While I'm not being serious, stranger things have happened and he has developed from a capable game handler into a very dangerous threat. One third of the season left, and the Patriots would sure like to get first place back and try to get a home playoff game.
- Atlanta Falcons - 7-4 - Matt Ryan for MVP? I might be serious about this one. This is another game I predicted, as the Panthers' record is as suspicious as the 2004 Presidential vote tallies in Florida. And the Falcons won't get to play every game at home. But a healthy John Abraham, a cool Matt Ryan making smart decisions and Michael Turner tearing up every defense he faces, gives this team a realistic shot at making some postseason noise.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 8-3 - There have been some major question marks over the last few weeks, and they are getting almost Broncos-like thin at running back. But, here they are at 8-3. Time to focus on getting healthy on making it into the playoffs playing to their full potential. Garcia is a gamer, and Barrett Rudd is a Pro Bowler for the next decade.
- Washington Redskins - 7-4 - Huge showdown at home against the Giants this weekend. The Redskins have a lot to play for: their awful first week performance, control of their own Wild Card destiny and of course pride, in trying to win a big game - any big game - this season. (Jason Campbell for MVP?)
The Week 13 edition was one of the harder NFL Power Rankings I've made for the 2008 season. Lots of movement, and lots of team bunched in the top that could be moved around fairly interchangeably. Just off the list are the Dallas Cowboys, who might be thriving in that underdog role, as opposed to the preseason Super Bowl favorites role. And while the Thanksgiving lineup of games doesn't seem to enthralling, I'll take all the football I can get on Turkey Day. Enjoy the week 13 NFL power rankings and enjoy the turkey, gobble gobble!

this is the worst rankings i have ever seen!!!…the pats, colts and falcons all better than tampa and carolina…this must be some kind of school project or a joke!!!…where is dallas?…stick to soccer, you are obviously a communist…
The Buccaneers who fell behind the Lions, and the Panthers who just lost toe the Falcons… um, yes. Dallas? Why would they be on for beating San Francisco?
