Week 11 NFL Power Rankings

11 November 2008

That game between the Cardinals and the 49ers was so crazy tonight, I couldn't even wait until tomorrw morning to get my Week 11 NFL Power Rankings out. This stuff is just too good, so I figured I would get my weekly power rankings out a bit early for everybody, and you all can enjoy it before work Tuesday or whenever else you get a chance. I'm that kind of nice guy! And it means I'm back to my weekly debate of who should be ranked first, the Tennessee Titans or the New York Giants. Hmmm, who will it be? Anyway, enough messing around, let's get to the power rankings for week 11, shall we?

Week 11 NFL Power Rankings

  1. Tennessee Titans - 9-0 - I said a few weeks ago that the Titans would probably have to lose before they are removed from the number one spot. And they did nothing to hurt their cause this weekend against another team in my top 10 power rankings, the Bears. On the road, the passing game stepped up and the Titans pulled off a hard fought victory.
  2. New York Giants - 8-1 - I'm still a bit confused on how the Giants were underdogs to the Eagles last weekend. Perhaps the best road team in recent history, the defending Super Bowl champions, owners of a 7-1 record, and they are underdogs. Hmmm. Well the Giants took care of business and survived a few scares against an Eagles team that plays in the wrong division.
  3. Carolina Panthers - 7-2 - It's hard to be 7-2 and get as little press as the Carolina Panthers are. Really hard. But I'm sure John Fox and Co. love it that way. No, a win over the Raiders isn't worth much, but staying atop of the surprisingly deep NFC South definitely is.
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers - 6-3 - You have a desperate Indianapolis Colts team coming into your stadium, with one of the greats of all time, Peyton Manning leading the charge. Your team is beyond the scope of injured and veering into decimated. And you could've, maybe should've gotten the win. The week in and week out struggle may prove to be too much come playoffs time for Big Ben and the Steelers though.
  5. Indianapolis Colts -5-4 - How does a 5-4 team jump all the way up to number 5 in the weekly power rankings? Because they are two years removed from a Super Bowl, they have their backs to the wall and are on a mission and they went into one of the toughest places in the league to play, and escaped with a win
  6. Washington Redskins - 6-3 - So the Redskins have a bye week, a team ahead of them in the rankings loses, and they pick up DeAngelo Hall, but yet, the Redskins fall to number 6 you ask? I'm just not sold on this team yet, they haven't won a game where they needed to prove themselves yet.
  7. Baltimore Ravens - 6-3 - Consider that this team is achingly close to an 8-1 record, with Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback. The young guys on the defense are picking up that classic Ravens/Miami Hurricanes swagger, and the offense actually has a few legitimate weapons. Nobody wants to see this team come January, nobody.
  8. New England Patriots - 6-3 - The Patriots aren't shouting out, "Brady Who?!" but they are proving a point to all the Spy Camera, Belichick Bashers out there. But I still wouldn't be scared of this team, and some real important divisional games still lie ahead.
  9. Chicago Bears - 5-4 - The Bears lost, and moved up the rankings. Maybe I'm furthering along all of that crazy talk I keep hearing about myself. But really, playing with your backup quarterback against an 8-0 juggernaut and almost getting the W is a solid credential and confidence booster. Good thing they are in the NFC North, where 5-4 still means first place.
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 6-3 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers scoot into the power rankings after their bye week proving the point that sometimes, no news is good news. Earnest Graham really needs to get on track, but can he do it against a tough Vikings team next week?

Wow, it's getting really hard to fill up just 10 spots in the weekly NFL power rankings. And every single team in that top 10 either a) didn't lose, b) didn't play or c) lost to another team in the top 10! What's a guy supposed to do?

As for the AFC/NFC struggle, it's split half and half in the week 11 power rankings. But I'll tell ya, I'd rather go through the NFC playoffs than the AFC's. Baltimore and Indianpolis are both kicking it into gear, the Patriots are looking strong, the Steelers are banged up but dangerous and of course Tennessee will be sitting pretty with their bye week. Until next week, enjoy the free NFL picks, other news, rumors and notes, and spread the word about my Week 11 NFL Power Rankings!

The Colts (inconsistent) and Bears (who lost) in the top 10, but as usual no respect for the Cards. Everyone has an off week (last nights game), but to continuously keep them out of the top 10 is ridiculous. It’s not their fault that the Hawks, 9er’s, and Rams stink. I don’t know why I read power rankings…they are always biased and wrong.

The Cardinals were probably number 11. It was tough to leave them out, but I can’t fault the Bears for losing to the number one team– and playing them tough, with a backup quarterback, like I said. The Colts have won two games against teams in my top 10 in back to back weeks.

Well, these are the Power Rankings for last week. I would suspect the Jets could be in next week’s top 10!
