DeAngelo Hall Signs with Washington Redskins
Days after being released from the Oakland Raiders, DeAngelo Hall has signed on with the Washington Redskins. Hall had signed with the Raiders for an extremely lucrative, $72 million contract after being traded from the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he had had a falling out with. After playing only eight games of a 7 year contract, Hall was unceremoniously dumped by the Raiders, who still have to pay him a total $8 million for the season.
Just another crazy day in Raiders Nation. Few details have emerged at this point in the aftermath of Hall's release from the Raiders. Hall is a top level corner back in the NFL and is one amongst a handful of true shutdown corners in the league. At least he has the talent to be one, with his personality and mindset apparently getting in the way more often than not.
Was Hall tanking it for a terrible Raiders team, knowing he would be released by gunslinging Al Davis? That's my guess, although it's just as good as anybody else's right now. DeAngelo Hall was not lacking for suitors either. Apparently nearly half the teams in the NFL were pursuing the troubled corner back for his services.
The Washington Redskins were able to secure him to a one year deal for about a half of a million dollars. They get to add a great corner to their team which is already strong defensively and they get to do so for a great price. Presumably, DeAngelo Hall should be focused and ready to prove a point that he's not a troublemaker and he is a great player. After all, next season he will hope to have another huge contract to sign.
So how did the Redskins acquire the sought after services of DeAngelo Hall? I'm sure it is in no small part thanks to one Deion Sanders, who played several seasons under Dan Snyder and is a mentor and friend to Hall. It will be interesting to see how quickly Hall adapts to the Redskins' defensive schemes. It is perfect timing however, with the team being on a bye week Hall will get some extra time to look over the playbook.

[...] – 6-3 – So the Redskins have a bye week, a team ahead of them in the rankings loses, and they pick up DeAngelo Hall, but yet, the Redskins fall to number 6 you ask? I’m just not sold on this team yet, they [...]
