Free NFL Picks Week 9

28 October 2008

Welcome one and welcome all to the week 9 free NFL picks. I was looking great in my picks from last weekend. That is, until the Steelers long snapped a ball out of the back of the end zone and the Colts completely collapsed in the fourth quarter. Ahem. So it's time to right the ship and provide some winners here in my free NFL picks section.

Of course as you know by now if you've been here before, I don't pick all the games. Why? Because anybody can pick 14 games a week and claim a great record. Half of those games are obvious to everyone! The hard part is picking the tough games every week, so that's what I do. Here are my free expert NFL picks for week of the NFL season, turning the corner into the second half of the year.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns - Browns favored by 1.5

The Browns have shown after the past few weeks that they are not in fact a dead team. The win over the Giants, a close loss at Washington and a win over the Jaguars. All good performances. The Ravens on the other hand are also fighting to salvage their season after back to back tough losses a few weeks ago. I like the Ravens in this game, because the defense won't allow Derek Anderson to get comfortable. Classic AFC North bruising game, and the Ravens pull it out on the road.

Miami Dolphins @ Denver Broncos - Broncos favored by 3

For the second of my free expert NFL picks for week 9, I'm looking at the Dolphins and the Broncos. These are two teams who have experienced all kinds of ups and downs this season already. I really expect a strong showing from Jay Cutler this week, at home and in a big game. That division is still completely up for grabs, and somebody has to reach out and take it and win a few games! The Dolphins have exceeded all expectations and are coming off a big win over the Bills at home. So, let down time? I'll take the Broncos at home and to cover the spread.

Atlanta Falcons @ Oakland Raiders - Falcons favored by 3

I really thought this game would have a much wider point spread, which is why I'm jumping all over it here in my free expert NFL picks. The Raiders really can't seem to get their act together, while the Falcons have been showing some poise for a young squad. Expect Matt Ryan and company to put on a solid performance after the Eagles loss and prove they aren't a fluke. Michael Turner will have a big day, and the defense will shut down Russell and Co. Falcons on the road, and they beat the spread.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants - Giants favored by 8.5

Time for a classic rivalry game in my free expert NFL picks. Now this is a game that I thought would be much closer in the point spread. That's a very large number for a division game and against a Cowboys team that was favored to come out of the NFC just three weekends ago. I know the Cowboys offensive line will take this game as seriously as possible after last year's playoff performance. Now, I expect the Giants to win at home. So if you bet straight up be confident there. But I don't think the Giants will beat the Cowboys by 9 points or more. So take the Cowboys against the spread.

New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts - Colts favored by 5

I have to say, I really think some of the lines this week are crazy! It's really making me confused here for my week 9 free NFL picks. And it looks like once again I'll be picking one team straight up and another if you bet on the point spread. I like the Colts at home in this game because Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy won't let this team just roll over and die. But 5 points might be a bit much against a tough New England team and a rivalry that seems to always come down to last minute field goals. The Colts win at home, but if you bet on the spread, take the Patriots.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Washington Redskins - Redskins favored by 2

I know the Washington Redskins right now are thinking, "Anything the Giants can do, we can do, better!" but I don't feel the same way. That's why I'm going to pick against them here in my week 9 expert NFL picks. Clinton Portis won't get shut down in this game, but he certainly won't go for 150+ yards. And I think Jason Campbell is going to struggle against a very motivated Pittsburgh unit. I expect the Steelers to win on the road and make up for last week when they should have beaten the Giants.

There it is, 6 free NFL picks for you going into week 9 on the season. Use them wisely! If you need to look up all the rest of the lines for the weekly NFL games or if you're looking to place down any bets, be sure to do so at Bodog. 10% bonus when you sign up and deposit for the first time, so don't miss out on that. Good luck with the free expert NFL picks for week 9.

I have the Colts winning too. Don’t know about that spread though. Like the pics.
